Rafet Elçi was born on November 20, 1979, in Bayburt. He made his debut in the literary world through poetry, later reaching a wide readership with his novels that are intricately woven with philosophy, science fiction, Sufism, and dream theories. Since his school years, he has been known for his keen interest in “extracurricular” books—a passion that formed the foundation for the profound intellectual layers found in his works. Elçi’s career began prolifically; he managed to publish three books during his university years before even graduating. A composer who plays both the piano and the oud, the author is proficient in English, German, and Arabic. This artistic and linguistic mastery allows him first-hand access to primary historical and philosophical texts. In works such as Platon’un Aşkı (The Love of Plato), he bridges ancient philosophy with literature, while in books like Şair, Ahrar, and Enba, he blends historical narrative with mystical elements. Timur ve Yıldırım, a theatrical adaptation of his novel Ahrar, was staged at the Erzurum State Theater in February 2026.
